Shockwave Therapy To Help With Chronic Pain

Radial and Focused shockwave therapy can relieve pain and prevent it from returning, improving movement in the neck, shoulders, back, and torso and more.

What Is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is used for the treatment of chronic tendon inflammation in the knee, elbow, sole and heel of the foot, hip and shoulder.

Radial shockwave therapy involves a series of shock waves for the treatment area. A shock wave is mechanical as opposed to electrical. An inflammation like condition in the tissue is triggered by the treatment. The response of the body is an increase in the metabolism and blood circulation in the treatment area. This accelerates the natural healing process of the body. The calcifications and injured tissue are broken down by the shock waves.

How Does Shockwave Therapy Work?

Medical Wave is a highly effective treatment for pain. High-energy sound waves are introduced into the painful areas of the body. This accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue. Strong energy pulses are applied to the affected area. These pulses occur for short periods of time, creating micro-cavitation bubbles that expand and burst. The force created by these bubbles penetrates tissue and stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing.

What Are The Benefits Of The Shockwave Therapy?

  • Non-invasive

  • Painless

  • Therapeutic benefits include pain mitigation, calcification obliteration, and elasticity renewal without drugs or invasive surgical procedures

  • Decreases pain by modulating substance P

  • Improves long-term outcomes of chronic pain

  • Many patients notice significant improvement after 3 visits

  • Breaks up and disperses scar tissue and increases the blood flow to local tissue, which in turn reduces pain and inflammation

  • Safe, no long-term side effects

  • Provides a fast solution to chronic conditions that have been resistant to other modalities

Shockwave Therapy FAQ's

How does Medical Wave shockwave therapy work?

Medical Wave is a highly effective treatment for pain. High-energy sound waves are introduced into the painful areas of the body. This accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue. Strong energy pulses are applied to the affected area. These pulses occur for short periods of time, creating micro-cavitation bubbles that expand and burst. The force created by these bubbles penetrates tissue and stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing.

Does shockwave therapy work?

Research proves shockwave therapy is extremely effective for most near to bone tendonitis and more so than most of the alternatives. I.e. Plantar facitis (90% Improvement), Tennis Elbow (77% Improvement), Calcific Tendonitis of the shoulder (91% Improvement).

How effective is shockwave therapy?

Many patients show an overwhelming success rate. In the study, a group of 150 patients was asked to rate their pain level on a scale of 1 to 10, with the average rating a 7.7 pain level prior to receiving treatment. After receiving one shockwave treatment, the patients were asked one year later to rate their pain level again on the same 1 to 10 scale. The patients who reported had an average pain score post-therapy of 0.6. This is a 92% reduction in pain and a much higher rate of success than any non-surgical or surgical alternative. More importantly, shockwave is safe, easy to perform, has few contraindications and virtually no downside.

Is shockwave therapy safe?

Very safe! Shockwave therapy has no long term effects or damages. Some short term discomfort is felt during the treatment and some people will experience mild bruising, tingling or numbness over the area of the treatment.

Is shockwave therapy painful?

You will normally experience a reduced level of pain or no pain at all immediately after the treatment, but a mild and diffused pain may occur a few hours later. This dull pain can last for a day or so.
